“On the verge of” is the name of a new collection of my paintings created by mixed media.
The main focus and the primary concern of these paintings are related to women, like my previous works.
Woman as a general meaning; not an Iranian woman, not a Muslim woman, not a woman from a particular culture.
These paintings may be more poetic and closer to my reality and being a woman than my previous paintings.
Regardless of isms and written knowledge and mottos, these works reflect my feelings of being a woman and the problem of being a woman. From despair and hopelessness, from discrimination, from negligence, and from ….
And all this, at first glance in the form of signs and dark colors, shows a bitter and dark atmosphere. Nevertheless, in a deeper and more precise view, the woman, me, stands eagerly, relying on movement and effort. She stands on the verge of change, equality, movement, correction, and elimination of cumbersome and reactionary traditions.
On the verge of playing more roles.
On the verge of another world.
On the verge of tomorrow’s bright days.
“On the verge” is not an image of darkness and bitterness and suffering, but the story of my hope for the future, life and change.
